Author Signing at the Nebulas, part 2!
The public author signing at the Nebulas was a ton of fun! Here's a short, incomplete cast of characters we ran into. If you're pictured, feel free to use these photos on your own blog or nebula write-up. Also as always if you are pictured and would like to be removed or obscured to keep the feds off your trail, I am happy to do so. Fight the power!
Margot Atwell - Em Dash - @MargotAtwell
Writer of Derbylife - A Crash Course in the Incredible Sport of Roller Derby, Editor of SURVIVAL MODE
John Joseph Adams - King of Anthologies - @JohnJosephAdams
Editor of Best American Science Fiction and Fantasy
Neal Clarke - Unstoppable Cyborg - @clarkesworld
Neal is the editor of Clarkesworld, my favorite SFF magazine. I didn't have much time to chat with him at the Nebulas, but recently saw him give an amazing talk on the future of SF at Singularity & Co.
Ada Palmer - Author of Too Like the Lightning - @ada_palmer
I only spoke briefly with Ada to congratulate her on the amazing blurbs for her book, but I'm really excited to read it as well. Excited enough that I'm avoiding reviews so that the whole experience is fresh, don't spoil it for me!
Michael Damian Thomas - Publisher and Editor of Uncanny - @UncannyMagazine
Mary Robinette Kowal - Ferocious author of Ghost Talkers - @MaryRobinette
We had lunch with Michael and Mary at an amazing hidden bar at the Chicago Athletic Association, the staff and volunteers for the awards did a fantastic job. They deserve a plug for their projects!
Overall it was just a very friendly, fun author signing experience. The lines weren't too long, and there were plenty of people to talk with and say hello to. Authors could take the time to have a conversation with readers, and the atmosphere was great. Only a lack of free booze (and sleep) kept me from staying far longer.
